The Role:
The role sits in the With-profits Capital Valuation Team, which oversees the end-to-end production and analysis of the capital requirements for PAC’s with-profits balance sheet. Responsible for the production of the capital models and the explanation of the capital requirements, working in this team will offer the opportunity to:
- develop a deep understanding of the management of the company’s with-profits balance sheet, including the significant book of with-profits business and its asset-liability management strategies;
- develop and deliver of complex actuarial models to support valuations, covering the modelling (and calibration) of both assets and liabilities;
- develop communications skills across a range of stakeholders across the business, ensuring that capital impacts are clearly explained and understood. In particular, working with colleagues in the Actuarial Consolidation team to ensure that the analysis of change in the capital requirements and risk margin are clearly explained and communicated to senior stakeholders;
- work with colleagues in the AM&V Business Development and the Investment Office to ensure that new propositions are accurately reflected into the reported results; and
- engage with colleagues involved in the oversight and review of the capital valuation processes in our Risk department and the Chief Actuary’s Team.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Accountable for providing a quality service or products to customers and stakeholders, using skills/experience built through significant practical experience.
- Works within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems
- Delivers outputs that are clearly defined, using discretion over how to achieve them
- Makes suggestions for improvements to the work of the team, based on previous experience and knowledge of similar situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- To produce and be accountable for understanding and explaining the change in Capital to key stakeholders with clear controls.
- To provide specialist technical advice and guidance on the application of actuarial principles and tools to support business objectives, coaching and guiding less experienced members of the team
- To provide technical expertise to design technical solutions as part of change projects within M&G UK Finance Reporting where required.
