About the Role
Working closely with Distribution, Middle Office, Credit and Risk, you will provide trusted guidance on financial structuring, risk identification and mitigation, covenant design and policy interpretation. You will review and endorse complex submissions, helping teams clearly articulate the credit rationale, key risks and mitigants while improving submission quality, consistency and first-time approval outcomes.
You will represent BOQ Finance in senior credit forums, including Business Review Panel and Credit Risk Committee discussions, presenting complex transactions and acting as the accountable business sponsor where escalation is required. You will also bring your credit expertise into conversations with prospective customers and key partners, helping clarify structuring options and information requirements.
Alongside your deal and governance responsibilities, you will lead and develop a small team of Lending Portfolio Managers, establish consistent standards and strengthen capability across portfolio management, annual reviews, covenant management and overall portfolio health. The role will use insights from credit feedback, declined transactions and reworked submissions to drive practical improvements across policy, processes, controls, governance and learning.
This is an influential role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of commercial opportunity, customer outcomes and sound risk management. You will contribute to broader operational and strategic priorities across Customer & Business Enablement, including audit activity, control reviews, risk incidents, remediation and cross-functional improvement initiatives.
About You
You will bring substantial experience across business, commercial or asset finance credit, with a strong track record in structuring complex and non-standard transactions. Your expertise will include financial analysis, credit risk assessment, commercial negotiation and the preparation and presentation of recommendations to senior credit decisionmakers.
You are confident interpreting credit policy, risk appetite and delegated authority frameworks, and you can translate complex credit matters into clear, practical guidance for a range of audiences. You understand how to connect commercial objectives with sound risk outcomes and are comfortable influencing senior stakeholders across Distribution, Credit, Risk, Legal, Operations and other specialist functions.
As a leader, you set clear expectations, build capability and create consistency without losing sight of individual deal circumstances or customer needs. You have experience coaching credit or portfolio professionals and can identify recurring themes, turn insights into practical improvements and support teams to produce stronger, decision-ready submissions.
Above all, you bring sound judgement, accountability and discretion when navigating complex or sensitive matters. You are collaborative, pragmatic and comfortable constructively challenging thinking, with an inclusive leadership style and the ability to balance commercial priorities, customer outcomes and risk requirements. Equivalent or transferable experience will also be considered where it demonstrates the level of capability required for the role.
