Job Description:

This role offers the opportunity to lead a broad operational portfolio and drive service excellence, stronger controls and meaningful transformation within Underwriting and New Business Operations.


Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end Underwriting and New Business support operations, ensuring efficient policy processing, reporting, premium administration, and service delivery.
  • Monitor operational performance, capacity, workloads, and service levels, resolving issues and exceptions promptly.
  • Support business initiatives, including product launches, campaigns, and other time-sensitive operational activities.
  • Manage, develop, and coach the operations team, with effective workforce planning, succession planning, and cross-training.
  • Maintain and enhance operational procedures, controls, and documentation, ensuring alignment with business, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Oversee internal approvals, expense controls, and governance processes, ensuring compliance with delegated authority and segregation of duties.
  • Represent Operations in business, process, and technology transformation initiatives, translating operational needs into business requirements.
  • Manage outsourced service providers and vendors, including onboarding, performance monitoring, risk assessments, and contract governance.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across business, distribution, technology, finance, legal, compliance, and audit functions to drive operational effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and digital transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency, controls, and customer experience.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in life insurance underwriting, new business operations, or insurance operations management.
  • Proven leadership experience leading operational teams and managing complex business processes.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, insurance operations, compliance requirements, and risk controls.
  • Demonstrated experience in process transformation, automation, and change management initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with outsourced service providers, technology teams, and cross-functional stakeholders is preferred.
  • Clear communication and effective stakeholder and vendor management.
