Job Description

The Senior SBA Servicing Specialist is responsible for the full life of loan servicing of Small Business Administration (SBA) loan products, including SBA 7(a), SBA Express, SBA CAPLines, and SBA 504 loans. This role performs complex post closing, servicing, reporting, and compliance functions that are critical to preserving the SBA guarantee, mitigating portfolio risk, and ensuring regulatory adherence.

The Senior Specialist serves as a subject matter resource for SBA servicing requirements, exercising independent judgment within established policies and procedures. The position requires advanced knowledge of SBA regulations, loan documentation, and servicing systems, as well as the ability to manage high volume, time sensitive work while consistently delivering a high level of internal and external customer service.

Essential Functions

  • Perform comprehensive post funding and prebooking quality control reviews for SBA loans, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to boarding to the core system

  • Process and oversee specific multi-disbursement loan files to meet customer needs and bring to final funding

  • Prepare and process payoff quotes and payoff transactions

  • Respond to customer inquiries with exemplary customer service in the established timeframe

  • Process loan modifications

  • Reconcile GL Accounts specific to business line needs

  • Process third party invoices to ensure prompt payment

  • Process and oversee payments to SBA.gov, including guaranty fees, subsidy fees, and other required remittances

  • Assist and prepare documentation for secondary market sales

  • Monitor and reconcile reports as they apply to SBA Loans and perform follow-up as necessary with internal and external business partners

  • Perform all post-closing servicing functions and tracking for Small Business Administration (SBA) guaranteed loans

  • Ensure total document and data integrity attributes to comply with SBA CAFS, Credit Approval, and Documents

  • Assist with and monitor delinquent insurance, financial, and collateral ticklers

  • Complete work to meet the established service level agreements and benchmarks

  • Post-close accurate lien position, including recording and releasing collateral within the established timeframe, escalating concerns to management

  • Maintain and update SBA CAFS and E Tran systems, ensuring all servicing actions, loan status changes, and required data fields are accurate, timely, and aligned with SBA reporting standards

  • Responsible for daily balancing and assisting with the reconciliation of General Ledger accounts

  • Provide support for testing new products and services

  • Serve as point person for gathering audit data requested by management

  • Monitor and prepare loan packages for SBA 504 debenture take outs, coordinating with CDCs, internal teams, and external partners

  • Assist in physical vault file document collection

  • Month End Reporting includes 1502 reporting and misc. internal reports

  • Provide administrative support to Portfolio Managers and Loan Closing Originators

  • Research and correct errors as applicable

  • Prepare and submit SBA 1502 reports, reconcile discrepancies, and research variances to ensure accurate remittance of principal, interest, and guaranty fees.

  • Monitor and resolve SBA exception reporting, including payment discrepancies, status errors, and system generated alerts.

  • Monitor SBA servicing related reports and coordinate follow up with Accounting, Commercial Operations, and external partners as needed.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma preferred

  • Associate’s degree preferred

  • 5-6 years of customer service experience preferred

  • 8-12 years of Commercial or SBA loan experience preferred
