We are looking for an experienced STR / Investigations Manager to oversee financial crime investigations and the Suspicious Transaction/Activity Reporting (STR/SAR) process. The role will ensure investigations and regulatory reports are completed to a high standard, filed within applicable regulatory timelines, and supported by clear, defensible analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end financial crime investigation and STR/SAR process, from case escalation and investigation through review and regulatory filing.
  • Review and approve investigations, STR/SAR narratives and supporting analysis for accuracy, completeness and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish investigation and STR/SAR standards, procedures, quality controls and escalation thresholds.
  • Ensure regulatory filings are completed accurately and within applicable jurisdictional deadlines.
  • Ensure investigations are supported by sufficient transaction data, customer information, on-chain analysis and other relevant evidence.
  • Identify complex or high-risk cases and escalate material matters to the relevant MLRO.
  • Monitor investigation and STR/SAR quality, volumes, turnaround times and other key performance indicators.
  • Provide guidance, feedback and training to investigators and STR/SAR makers to continuously improve investigation and reporting quality.
  • Work closely with MLROs, AML Operations, Transaction Monitoring and other Compliance teams on emerging typologies, control gaps and remediation.
  • Support regulatory enquiries, audits and reviews relating to investigations and suspicious transaction reporting.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in AML, financial crime investigations, transaction monitoring or suspicious transaction reporting, with experience reviewing or approving STRs/SARs.
  • Strong understanding of AML/CFT requirements, investigation methodologies and regulatory reporting expectations.
  • Experience leading or providing oversight of investigators, STR/SAR analysts or similar financial crime operations.
  • Strong ability to assess complex transaction patterns and produce clear, defensible investigation conclusions.
  • Experience with transaction monitoring, case management and blockchain analytics tools.
  • Experience in digital assets, crypto, fintech, payments or financial services strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical judgement, attention to detail and ability to operate across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong investigative judgement with the ability to distinguish genuinely suspicious activity from false positives.
  • Comfortable making and defending escalation and filing decisions.
  • Hands-on and able to operate effectively in a high-volume, fast-moving environment.
  • Strong focus on investigation quality, regulatory defensibility and continuous process improvement.
  • Interest in leveraging technology and AI to improve investigation quality, consistency and efficiency.
