BNY is seeking a Senior Vice President to lead the Wealth Services Platform Cloud Nerve Center. This leader will establish the production environment, engineering patterns, and operational capabilities needed to migrate WSP applications to the cloud securely, efficiently, and at scale, with accountability across security, resiliency, connectivity, modernization, automation, and FinOps.
The role will deliver cloud-first standards, reusable blueprints, and repeatable migration patterns while aligning application engineering, architecture, cyber, infrastructure, SRE, risk, finance, and external partners around secure, resilient, and cost-efficient outcomes. The role is located in Jersey City, NJ or New York City, NY.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and execution: Own the Cloud Nerve Center roadmap and translate modernization priorities into measurable engineering outcomes.
Cloud security and edge: Lead traffic management, web application protection, private connectivity, managed identity, and zero-trust controls for WSP cloud applications.
Resiliency and operations: Establish multi-region, active-active, recovery, observability, capacity, and incident-readiness standards for critical services.
Migration and modernization: Deliver reusable landing zones, infrastructure-as-code modules, migration playbooks, and operational-readiness standards that accelerate data center exits.
FinOps: Improve cost transparency and savings through autoscaling, rightsizing, allocation, forecasting, and cloud-efficiency standards.
Risk and governance: Ensure cloud capabilities meet BNY cybersecurity, regulatory, audit, data-protection, and operational-control requirements.
Leadership: Align senior stakeholders, mentor technical leaders, and foster accountability, automation, reuse, and continuous improvement.
Key Initiatives and Outcomes
Deliver secure cloud edge and traffic-management capabilities for WSP cloud applications.
Enable the four-nines resiliency target for TIAA-supported services through measurable architecture and operational controls.
Establish resilient private-line cloud connectivity for USAA.
Improve application security and resiliency through managed identity and service-to-service authentication patterns.
Reduce application cloud spend through autoscaling, rightsizing, demand management, and cloud-efficiency standards.
Strengthen trading platform resiliency through third-region, active-active, recovery, and failover capabilities.
Improve cloud edge continuity by implementing Akamai as an alternate content delivery network.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent professional experience.
Extensive leadership experience in cloud, platform, infrastructure, SRE, or production engineering within a regulated enterprise.
Deep expertise in a major public cloud platform, cloud networking, identity, security, containers, infrastructure as code, observability, and automation.
Strong knowledge of multi-region resiliency, active-active architecture, disaster recovery, cloud edge technologies, private connectivity, and traffic management.
Demonstrated experience with managed identity, zero-trust controls, FinOps, large-scale migrations, and complex production change.
Executive communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate technical decisions into business, client, and risk outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
Cloud transformation experience in financial services or another highly regulated environment.
Experience with Akamai or comparable edge-security platforms, data center exits, hybrid-cloud modernization, and private connectivity.
Relevant cloud, security, Kubernetes, architecture, SRE, or FinOps certifications.
Experience leading senior engineers, vendors, budgets, and multi-year platform roadmaps.
Leadership and Impact
The successful candidate will combine enterprise leadership with strong technical credibility, making disciplined trade-offs across security, resiliency, delivery speed, and cost. Success will be measured through migration velocity, availability, recovery performance, risk reduction, adoption of reusable patterns, cost savings, and delivery against client commitments.
