Software Engineer E2 - Speed Layernew

 

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Speed Layer Engineering team that sits within Nationwide's Cloud, Digital & Integration domain.

Speed Layer is a strategic enterprise capability that improves data performance, resilience and availability for Nationwide's digital channels. The platform provides near real-time data services through a combination of event-driven architecture, APIs, distributed caching, containerised microservices and cloud technologies. It underpins critical member journeys across Internet Banking, the Mobile App, Open Banking and other core services.

What you’ll be doing

 

As a Speed Layer Software Engineer, you will work as part of a cross-functional squad responsible for designing, developing, testing and supporting services that operate at enterprise scale. You will contribute to the ongoing evolution of the platform while helping to deliver resilient, secure and high-performing solutions for millions of members.

You will be designing, developing and maintaining Java-based APIs and microservices whilst building and enhancing event-driven solutions using Kafka and related streaming technologies.

About you

As a minimum requirement, you’ll have:

 

• Commercial experience developing software using Java
• Experience with Spring Boot or similar modern application frameworks
• Understanding of microservice architectures and API-led design
• Experience working with container technologies such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and DevOps principles
• Familiarity with Git-based source control and modern engineering toolchains
