The Solution Architect is a newly created position within Prudential's Group Technology function, reporting into the Enterprise Architect. The role is accountable for translating enterprise architecture principles, standards and roadmaps into robust, scalable and secure application and software solution designs, with a particular focus on the Finance technology landscape – including ERP (Oracle Financials), Actuarial (Prophet, Pathwise), OneStream (Reporting) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) platforms such as Coupa. This role should also look into downstream & upstream ‘interfaces’ with Finance platforms, for example, Finance x HR integration needs. The Solution Architect will act as the bridge between enterprise-level architecture strategy and delivery teams, ensuring that individual solutions are consistent with Prudential's target architecture, technology strategy and business objectives while balancing cost, risk, performance and time-to-market considerations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end application and software solution architectures that align with Prudential plc's enterprise architecture principles, reference models and technology roadmaps.

  • Partner with the Enterprise Architect to translate enterprise-level strategy, standards and target-state architecture into actionable solution designs for specific programmes and projects.

  • Produce high-quality architecture artefacts, including solution architecture documents, high-level and low-level designs, integration diagrams, and architecture decision records (ADRs).

  • Evaluate technology options and third-party products/platforms, providing recommendations that balance functionality, cost, scalability, security and maintainability.

  • Work closely with business analysts, engineering, delivery and infrastructure teams throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to ensure solutions are built as designed and meet non-functional requirements (performance, resilience, security, scalability).

  • Identify architectural risks, technical debt and design gaps early, and define appropriate mitigation and remediation strategies.

  • Ensure solution designs comply with Prudential plc's security, data protection, regulatory and risk management standards.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of architecture governance processes, design patterns, reusable components and best practices.

  • Support architecture review boards and governance forums by presenting and defending solution designs to senior stakeholders and architecture peers.

  • Design and support finance technology solutions spanning ERP (Oracle Financials) and P2P platforms (e.g. Coupa), working closely with Finance and Procurement stakeholders to translate business requirements into techno-functional designs.

  • Provide techno-functional input across Oracle Financials modules such as GL, AP and AR, ensuring solution designs are fit for purpose from both a technical and finance-process perspective.

  • Design and document API-based integrations (REST and SOAP) between finance systems, upstream/downstream platforms and third-party services.

  • Prepare Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), Technical Specification Documents (TSDs) and Detailed Design Documents to support delivery teams and governance forums.

  • Use UML and diagramming tools (e.g. Draw.io, Lucid chart) to produce clear architecture, process and integration diagrams, and prepare well-structured PowerPoint materials for architecture and stakeholder reviews.

  • Operate independently, self-organizing workload and priorities in line with project timelines and project management principles, escalating appropriately where needed.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends and market developments, assessing their relevance and potential application within Prudential plc.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10–12 years of overall IT experience, with a demonstrable track record in Finance techno-functional roles, systems integration and/or solution design.

  • Minimum of 5 years of solutioning experience within the Finance domain, typically involving ERP platforms such as Oracle Financials, Performance Management and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) platforms such as Coupa

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a techno-functional capacity across Oracle Financials areas such as AHCS (Accounting Hub), Oracle Integration (OIC), General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and related sub-ledgers.

  • At least 2 years of experience within Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI) would be a significant advantage, particularly exposure to the Insurance and Actuarial space.

  • Experience with API frameworks, having worked with both REST and SOAP APIs within the Finance domain, including integration design across ERP, P2P and adjacent finance systems.

  • Working familiarity with project management principles and practices, and the ability to operate effectively within structured delivery frameworks.

  • Proven ability to create Detailed Design Documents (DDDs) covering solution, integration and data design.

  • Strong PowerPoint skills, with the ability to prepare clear, well-structured presentations for architecture reviews and senior stakeholder audiences.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Finance or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g. TOGAF, Oracle Financials, Azure/GCP Solutions Architect) are advantageous.

  • Strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to balance long-term architecture vision against short-term delivery needs.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgement.

  • Collaborative approach with the ability to influence without direct authority.

  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving technology and regulatory environment.

  • Commitment to quality, governance and continuous improvement.
