Sr Principal Software Engineer - MACnew

Role Summary::

We are looking for a Sr Principal Software Engineer, Mac UI Engineer to lead the design and development of high-quality, customer-facing Mac desktop experiences. This is a senior individual contributor role for an engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong product thinking, architectural judgment, and cross-functional influence.

The ideal candidate brings strong proficiency in Swift, Objective-C, and C/C++, along with a proven ability to build polished, performant, and reliable Mac user interfaces at scale. This role requires close collaboration with product management, design, platform, and quality teams to deliver intuitive user experiences while driving sound engineering practices across the organization.

Experience using AI tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and development workflows is a strong plus.

What You Will Do::

· Architect, design, and develop modern Mac UI features for customer-facing desktop applications

· Lead implementation of complex UI workflows using Swift, Objective-C, and C/C++

· Drive technical direction for Mac UI architecture, maintainability, scalability, and performance

· Partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and QA to translate product requirements into elegant user experiences

· Own critical technical decisions across the UI layer, including frameworks, patterns, integrations, and code quality standards

· Review code, provide technical guidance, and raise the engineering bar through strong design and implementation practices

· Mentor engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, and day-to-day collaboration while remaining hands-on in development

· Troubleshoot complex production issues across UI, system integration, memory, performance, and stability areas

· Advocate for usability, accessibility, responsiveness, and consistency across the Mac user experience

· Contribute to continuous improvement in engineering workflows, release quality, and developer productivity

· Evaluate and apply AI-assisted development tools where they can improve speed, quality, or team effectiveness

Required Qualifications::

· 10+ years of experience with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

· Extensive software engineering experience with significant hands-on development in Mac application engineering

· Strong proficiency in Swift, Objective-C, and C/C++

· Deep experience building native Mac UI applications and shipping customer-facing desktop products

· Strong understanding of macOS application architecture, UI frameworks, event-driven programming, and system-level behavior

· Proven experience designing scalable, maintainable, and performant software systems

· Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across UI, application, and platform layers

· Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct people management responsibility

· Experience working in cross-functional product development environments

· Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications::

· Experience modernizing legacy Mac codebases and evolving mixed-language applications

· Experience integrating UI layers with platform services, local system components, or shared libraries

· Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and release engineering for desktop applications

· Strong understanding of software quality, security, performance optimization, and observability

· Experience partnering closely with UX and product teams to refine customer journeys and interaction design

· Experience using AI tools for coding assistance, test generation, code review acceleration, documentation, or developer workflow improvement

· Exposure to AI-powered product features, assistant workflows, or developer tooling is a plus
