We have an exciting opportunity for a Tax Consultant to join Wealth Enhancement. As a key member of our team, the Tax Consultant delivers integrated tax planning, preparation, and advisory services to clients while partnering closely with financial advisors and portfolio managers to develop tax-efficient strategies that support clients' broader financial goals.

This position offers a unique blend of meaningful tax work during peak season and exceptional flexibility throughout the remainder of the year. From January through April 2027, this role is expected to support a full-time schedule of approximately 40-50 hours per week. Following tax season, the position transitions into a highly flexible part-time arrangement, with anticipated workload of approximately 1-2 days per week, depending on business needs and candidate availability. Whether you are an experienced tax professional seeking seasonal work, an independent consultant looking to supplement your practice, or someone interested in maintaining a flexible schedule outside of tax season, this opportunity provides challenging and rewarding work without a year-round full-time commitment.

This role is available as an Onsite or Remote position.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the anticipated hourly rate for this position is $50.00 to $70.00 per hour, depending on experience, credentials, and depth of tax expertise.

Primary Job Functions

Tax Preparation and Planning

  • Prepare and review proforma and finalized tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, and S and C corporations.

  • Assist with the preparation and review of amended tax returns.

  • Support the review and response process for tax notices.

  • Contribute to the development of tax projections and planning recommendations.

  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and planning strategies for clients.

Tax Compliance Support

  • Review and interpret federal, state, and local tax regulations relevant to client situations.

  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns.

  • Assist clients with estimated tax payments, IRS correspondence, and audit support as needed.

  • Monitor regulatory changes and communicate potential impacts to advisors and clients.

Internal Collaboration

  • Serve as a trusted tax resource for advisors, planners, and investment professionals.

  • Partner with financial advisors on client strategies and planning opportunities.

  • Participate in client meetings to discuss tax implications of financial planning and investment decisions.

  • Contribute to internal education and training on tax-related topics.

Research and Strategy

  • Stay current on tax law changes and evaluate their impact on client planning strategies.

  • Develop and maintain tax planning tools, templates, and best practices.

  • Assist with creating educational content, including client communications, newsletters, and thought leadership materials.

  • Support the continued growth and development of Wealth Enhancement's tax capabilities and services.

Projects

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax planning, tax preparation, and compliance.

  • Experience serving individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, and closely held businesses preferred.

  • Prior experience in wealth management, financial planning, public accounting, or advisory environments is highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of individual, trust, estate, and small business taxation.

  • Proficiency with tax preparation software and financial planning tools.

  • Ability to analyze complex tax scenarios and communicate recommendations effectively.

  • Excellent client service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • CPA, EA, or other relevant tax credentials are preferred but not required.

Wealth Enhancement hires employees and makes compensation decisions based on factors including role requirements, skills, experience, credentials, market conditions, and geographic location. To comply with pay transparency requirements, the full salary grade for this position is $57,750 to $126,000 annually. The anticipated hiring range for this opportunity is $50.00 to $70.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
