About this role:

Are you ready to lead the charge in transforming how we use data and emerging technologies? As a Technical Principal- Data and AI Enablement, you’ll be the strategic powerhouse behind our data modernization journey—driving innovation, influencing business leaders, and delivering real business value.

In this role you will:

What makes you an ideal candidate:

  • Influence strategic projects and initiatives through deep technical expertise in cloud, data, AI/ML, and GenAI.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to department and business leaders, providing thought leadership on AI-enabled solutions and guiding technology decisions.
  • Drive technical innovation and thought leadership, acting as a change agent for emerging technologies such as LLMs, RAG architectures, MLOps/LLMOps, and event-driven AI systems.
  • Translate business vision into AI-aligned technical strategies, balancing risk, investment needs, and fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Foster open communication and collaboration, encouraging diverse viewpoints and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Maintain a strong internal and external network, representing GM Financial in AI/GenAI forums, industry events, and technology communities.
  • Anticipate and address cross-team challenges, influencing enterprise-wide adoption of AI and advanced analytics platforms.
  • Promote Responsible AI principles, ensuring compliance with ethical, regulatory, and security standards. 

Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years in technology leadership roles with a focus on enterprise architecture, AI/ML, and cloud and data platforms.
  • 3–5 years mentoring technical teams and driving AI-enabled transformation initiatives.
  • 3–5 years leading projects and influencing outcomes through technical thought leadership
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale technology initiatives, including AI/ML and GenAI adoption.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to articulate the business impact of AI-driven solutions.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, data platforms, and AI ecosystems (Azure AI, Databricks ML, Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Search).
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in one or more areas: AI/ML, Generative AI, cloud data architecture, advanced analytics.
  • Ability to mentor and influence technical leaders, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Expertise in emerging AI technologies, including LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, model lifecycle management, and AI governance.
  • Strong knowledge of Responsible AI frameworks, including bias mitigation, explainability, and compliance.
  • Ability to innovate and adopt new approaches, leveraging AI-driven automation and data-centric architectures.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to influence across business and technical domains.

    Certifications and Licenses

  • Related certifications and/or licenses required
  • Member of and recommendation by accredited association in related field preferred
