Description
Switchboard is seeking a Trust Officer on behalf of our client, a well-established, privately held community bank. This role is a great fit for a trust professional who can both administer complex accounts with precision and get out in the market to build the relationships that grow the business. You'll set the strategic direction of the Trust Department while staying hands-on with estates, personal trusts, retirement plans, and more. This position can be based in Nebraska or Colorado, with travel to customers between states. A signing bonus may apply.
About Our Client
Our client has been a cornerstone of community banking for over a century, built on a simple mission: honest, reliable banking for families and businesses. Locally owned and privately held, the bank has grown to well over a billion dollars in assets and operates across multiple states in the Central and Southwest U.S. — with a reputation built on outstanding customer service, community involvement, and sound banking practices. Now approaching a major anniversary milestone and led by a multi-generational ownership family, the bank offers products and services that compete with large banks — delivered with the personal attention only a community bank can provide.
Responsibilities
Administer a variety of trust accounts — including Estates, Personal Trusts, Conservatorships, Qualified Retirement Plans and IRAs, Personal and Corporate Agencies, and Escrows — in accordance with governing instruments, bank policy, and legal requirements
Partner with active and prospective trust customers and their legal and accounting advisors to develop or improve individual and business estate plans and related trust business
Drive business development by building and sustaining relationships with legal, accounting, insurance, real estate, and brokerage professionals in the local market; proactively network and seek referrals
Establish the overall direction of the Trust Department in alignment with bank objectives; develop and execute strategies for profitable growth, including targeted marketing plans for current and emerging trust markets
Set clear, measurable performance standards for direct reports and provide timely feedback, both positive and corrective
Assist with bond payments where the bank serves as Paying Agent and Registrar, and stay current on relevant market and regulatory developments
Requirements
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required; law degree helpful but not required
5 years of related trust, accounting, or legal experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strategic planning experience and strong business development/sales skills
Exceptional attention to detail, professionalism, and discretion with confidential matters
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks
Flexibility to travel to customers between Nebraska and Colorado
