Chubb (Chubb) · Other

Job Summary

Own end-to-end solution design for the market, translating business requirements into secure, scalable architectures across application, integration, data, security, and infrastructure layers.

As the market's architecture authority, this role represents the market in enterprise design review and governance forums, and drives the architectural evolution of the existing system estate toward the target state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own solution blueprints and architecture specifications for market initiatives, from concept through build approval

  • Review local architecture changes and new solution designs; assess architectural impact, risk, and standards alignment

  • Document architecturally significant decisions, including options considered and trade-offs made

  • Present and defend solution designs at enterprise design review and governance forums, and support the approval process for introducing new technology

  • Apply and enforce enterprise architecture standards and patterns; feed local constraints back into enterprise standards development

  • Maintain design integrity through build and deployment, reviewing implementation against the approved design and resolving deviations

  • Design cross-system integration to improve data flow and process efficiency, using API-first and event-driven patterns between core insurance systems and digital channels

  • Define API design standards and ensure APIs are documented, versioned, and governed through a managed gateway

  • Design data flows and integration patterns between systems, applying data modeling, classification, and data ownership standards

  • Own non-functional requirements (security, performance, scalability, and resilience), including disaster recovery and business continuity design proportionate to application criticality

  • Plan architecture optimization and evolution roadmaps for existing systems, including modernization and decommissioning paths

  • Define hosting and deployment patterns across on-premises and cloud; drive containerization and modern deployment models, and contribute to CI/CD standardization

  • Partner with business, IT, development, and operations teams to translate requirements into executable architecture, presenting options with clear trade-offs, risks, and cost implications

  • Mentor engineers on design practice, and lead cross-functional technical discussions to reach design consensus

Key Competencies

  • Application architecture, distributed systems, architectural patterns, and non-functional requirements definition

  • API design and management, event-driven and message-based integration. Experience with an API gateway or API management platform (e.g. Azure API Management, Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, IBM API Connect)

  • Public cloud architecture and migration patterns on Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS

  • Containerization and orchestration with Docker or Podman, and Kubernetes or equivalent

  • CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and automated delivery practices

  • Secure design principles, identity and access management, and encryption standards

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in the local market language and English (equivalent to TOEIC 700+); able to influence without direct authority across business, IT, and vendor stakeholders

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field

  • 8+ years of IT experience, with at least 3 to 4 years in a solution architecture or enterprise architecture role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Life insurance or financial services domain experience

  • Familiarity with local insurance regulatory requirements

  • Experience seeing solution designs through to production, including the build and deployment phases

  • Experience in enterprise architecture governance, design review boards, or architecture standard definition

  • Experience collaborating with regional or global architecture teams on solution review and governance

  • Experience with legacy modernization and system decommissioning in a regulated environment

  • Experience leading teams or driving project delivery

  • Data modeling, data integration patterns, and data warehouse or lakehouse architectures

  • Master's degree in a technology or management discipline

  • Relevant certifications: TOGAF, cloud architecture (Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS), CISSP or equivalent
