Role Overview
This individual will serve as a senior Investment Specialist within J.P. Morgan’s Outsourced Chief Investment Office, a specialist group providing highly customized investment advice and solutions for endowments, foundations, and public non-profits. Based in Dallas, this individual will be responsible for driving client acquisition and assets under management in the South region while partnering with local advisors to build relationships, and drive pipeline, investment opportunities, and asset growth.
The role requires a senior investment professional who can deliver the full OCIO platform, including customized asset allocation, investment policy guidance, portfolio construction, open architecture manager access, alternatives capabilities, liquidity management, and ongoing portfolio oversight. The candidate will provide consultative, objective advice to nonprofit clients and communicate market strategy, portfolio positioning, and performance results regularly to staff, Boards, and Investment Committees.
Key Responsibilities
- Support new business development and regional expansion by engaging with advisors to articulate OCIO’s value proposition and educate them on the opportunity set.
- Drive new business through client events, campaigns, roadshows, RFPs, pitches, proposals, and coordinated sales management efforts.
- Participate in new business opportunities with Integrated Team Members and senior management to build pipeline, deepen relationships, and grow assets under management.
- Play a leading role in the ongoing relationship management and investment dialogue with clients, including understanding each client’s investment plan, goals, objectives, liquidity needs, governance framework, and return requirements.
- Conduct investment reviews with clients to validate current investment objectives, review market strategy, portfolio positioning, performance, and prepare recommendations.
- Develop and implement customized investment plans, holistic asset allocation policies, and overall portfolio construction recommendations.
- Provide best practices on investment policy, investment governance, portfolio construction, manager selection, and implementation.
- Execute investment solutions in accordance with clients’ goals and objectives, including multi asset solutions, separately managed accounts, hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and other relevant strategies.
- Understand and effectively deliver J.P. Morgan’s investment platform, solutions, investment philosophy, cross-asset class capabilities, and alternatives access.
- Interact effectively with internal investment product specialists, banking teams, risk and compliance, marketing, and other cross-functional partners.
- Provide mentorship, coaching and guidance to junior team members and contribute to a high level of professionalism, diligence, and client service across the OCIO platform.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- 8 or more years of experience in OCIO, investment management, institutional portfolio management, private banking, institutional consulting, or a closely related investment role.
- Strong cross-asset class knowledge across public markets, fixed income, alternatives, private equity, private credit, real estate, hedge funds, and liquidity management.
- Demonstrated ability to advise endowments, foundations, nonprofit organizations, boards, investment committees, and other sophisticated clients.
- Experience developing and implementing customized investment plans, asset allocation policies, investment policy statements, portfolio construction recommendations, and governance frameworks.
- Series 7 and Series 63 licenses required; additional licenses or designations may be required based on role scope and business needs.
- Team-oriented and collaborative approach to problem-solving, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to partner effectively across advisors, bankers, product teams, risk, compliance, marketing, and senior management.
- High level of professionalism, diligence, judgment, and communication skills when engaging with clients, prospects, principals, family office staff, boards, and investment committees.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or relevant professional designation such as CFA, CAIA, or CFP preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience delivering an OCIO platform for endowments, foundations, nonprofits, or institutional families.
- Established relationships or market knowledge in Dallas, Texas, and the broader Southwest region, with the ability to help expand the firm’s regional OCIO presence.
- Experience driving asset growth, client acquisition, advisor engagement, events, campaigns, and roadshows.
- Experience coordinating RFPs, pitches, proposals, and finalist presentations for sophisticated institutional or family office prospects.
- Comfort operating in a matrixed organization and collaborating across advisors, investment team, banking, product, risk, compliance, marketing, and senior leadership teams.
