Responsibilities
- Responsible for underwriting, growth, and profitability of an assigned book of new and renewal marine business, focusing primarily on Ocean Marine Cargo, but potentially with ancillary Hull/P&I and Marine Liabilities as well.
- Develop and strengthen superior relationships with assigned, established brokers and build and maintain new broker relationships to foster profit center business growth, retention, and profitability goals.
- Independently establish proper terms, conditions, and pricing.
- Analyze coverages, issue policies and endorsements in accordance with established service standards.
- Assist with formal and informal underwriting training and mentoring to less experienced staff on market conditions, risk analysis, marketing, and producer management.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience, with demonstrated levels of progressive responsibility and analytical skill.
- Strong knowledge of marine forms, terms and conditions.
- Strong producer management and production skills with an understanding of the profit center’s business objectives.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000-$85,000
