SUMMARY:The Universal Banker II is responsible for delivering exceptional member service, building member relationships, supporting branch operations, and serving as an experienced resource for branch employees. This position combines advanced transaction-processing, account-opening, lending, service, and relationship-development responsibilities while supporting the overall success of the branch team.
The Universal Banker II assists with onboarding support, peer mentoring, operational guidance, and reinforcement of sales and service practices while maintaining accountability for individual performance and production goals.
The Universal Banker II serves as a branch subject-matter resource and works closely with the Universal Banker Manager and/or Area Service Manager to promote service excellence, operational consistency, employee development, member engagement, and branch productivity.
Compensation & Benefits: This position pays $25.00 per hour. Georgia's Own Credit Union offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) matching.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Member Service and Relationship Development
- Deliver exceptional service through in-person, telephone, and digital member interactions.
- Build and strengthen member relationships by identifying needs and recommending appropriate products and services.
- Open consumer and business membership accounts.
- Assist members with account maintenance, problem resolution, and service requests.
- Process and support consumer loan applications and related documentation.
- Conduct consultative conversations to identify deposit, lending, and relationship-growth opportunities.
- Maintain timely follow-up with members and document member interactions in designated systems.
- Promote Credit Union products and services through referrals, education, and relationship management.
- Support achievement of branch service, production, and member-experience goals.
Transaction Processing and Operations
- Process member transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and account maintenance transactions.
- Maintain an accurate balancing record in accordance with established standards.
- Perform vault, ATM, branch-capture, balancing, and reconciliation activities as assigned.
- Demonstrate proficiency in branch technology, systems, and equipment.
- Process operational exceptions and authorized overrides within delegated authority limits.
- Support branch readiness, operational compliance, and audit preparedness activities.
- Ensure adherence to Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Training and Peer Support
- Serve as a peer mentor and operational resource for branch employees.
- Support onboarding activities for newly hired Universal Bankers.
- Reinforce established service standards, sales practices, operational procedures, and member-engagement expectations.
- Assist with training, knowledge sharing, and skill development activities.
- Collaborate with the Universal Banker Manager to identify development opportunities and operational challenges.
- Promote teamwork, collaboration, and a positive branch culture.
Production and Branch Support
- Maintain individual production goals related to memberships, deposits, lending, referrals, debit activation, and other established performance measures.
- Proactively generate referrals and member relationship opportunities.
- Support branch business-development and community-engagement activities.
- Assist with service-level management by supporting member traffic flow, phone coverage, appointment support, and branch execution.
- Rotate between transaction, office, lending, and service responsibilities based on member and branch needs.
- Provide branch coverage at other locations as needed.
Leadership Support
- Support the Universal Banker Manager by reinforcing operational expectations, service standards, and branch routines.
- Communicate member concerns, operational issues, staffing challenges, and process-improvement opportunities to branch leadership.
- Serve as a knowledgeable branch resource during periods of high member demand, staffing shortages, or employee transitions.
- Assist with employee onboarding and training support as directed by branch leadership.
- While the Universal Banker II may assist with training and operational support activities, accountability for employee coaching, scheduling, performance evaluations, corrective action, staffing decisions, and employee development remains with branch leadership.
EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma and equivalent years of experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- One to three years’ experience in a financial branch environment or experience comparable within the financial industry or a retail sales environment.
- Provide coverage at other branches when necessary and work Saturday rotation schedule.
- Ability to communicate with members and others at all levels of the Credit Union, in both written and verbal formats.
- Experience with the loan application process and standard or typical internal operating policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of current industry offers, market trends, competitors, and Credit Union lending and member service policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to interpret and apply financial information (e.g., credit scores, debt, assets, balances, payments, interest rates, etc.) and perform math functions (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, etc.).
- Demonstrates analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and judgment by gathering and applying relevant data to research and resolve issues.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point software applications.
- Candidates must be able to pass a background check including: Credit, Drug Screen, Bondability, & Criminal Background.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table. Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs. Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required. All positions that have lending responsibilities must comply with all requirements under the SAFE ACT, as well as the Credit Union’s policies and procedures related to the SAFE ACT. This includes an obligation on the employee’s part to ensure that NMLA registration pertaining to the SAFE ACT is kept current. The employee must notify the Credit Union within 30 days of any changes that need to be reflected on the NMLS registry.
