A Trust Officer is responsible for the effective administration and oversight of a portfolio of sophisticated private client fiduciary structures across multiple jurisdictions. Structures may include trusts, companies and other wealth-holding vehicles governed by a range of applicable laws. As Trust Officer you will act as a key point of contact for clients, beneficiaries, bankers, wealth advisers, investment managers, lawyers, tax advisers and other professional intermediaries and will support senior fiduciaries and management in the delivery of a high-quality fiduciary service.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
As a Trust Officer you will be responsible for the management and administration of a portfolio of complex trust and corporate structures for multinational ultra-high net worth client base of individuals, corporates and family offices.
Develop, maintain and optimise professional relationships with clients, intermediaries and internal contacts through delivery of a consistent and seamless client experience to maximise client retention.
Play a constructive role within our global business, assist the team and act as a principal day-to-day contact for designated clients and their professional advisers.
Respond to client requests promptly and professionally while ensuring that requests are considered from the perspective of the trustee’s fiduciary responsibilities.
Coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a seamless client experience.
Identify significant changes in client circumstances and ensure that potential fiduciary, tax, legal, regulatory or reputational implications are appropriately considered and escalated.
Maintain the highest level of trust and company administration to minimise business risk and to adhere to a culture of compliance with policies and appropriate risk management.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work collaboratively with wealth advisors, bankers and peers to ensure adherence to policies and procedures while delivering a seamless client experience.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Ensure structures are administered in accordance with applicable governing documents, laws and regulations and J.P. Morgan policies, procedures and controls.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written required. Confident when dealing with clients and professionals.
Ability to work under pressure to achieve deadlines and meet client and business expectations.
Ability to analyze trust documents for legal, tax, administrative and investment issues and coordinate delivery of services.
Oversee investment decisions including working with investment advisors. Ensure that the Trust investment objective is appropriate for the needs of the Trust and applicable fiduciary law. Ensure the Trust is compliant with its investment guidelines / mandate.
Ensure compliance with all local and international anti-money laundering and Know you Customer requirements.
Assist with the onboarding of new clients in partnership with Wealth Advisors and the New Business Team.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching and support to Trust Officers and junior team members and review work where appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of client service while ensuring that fiduciary independence, governance and control requirements are consistently maintained.
Qualifications and Experience
Significant experience in private client trust and fiduciary administration, preferably involving complex and internationally connected structures. Minimum 7 years of experience in the roll.
Strong understanding of trusts, companies and other private wealth structures across multiple jurisdictions.
Sound understanding of fiduciary principles, governance, AML/KYC and risk management requirements.
Degree or equivalent professional qualification preferred plus STEP qualification.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with sophisticated clients, advisors and senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and identify matters requiring escalation.
Strong commitment to J.P. Morgan’s standards of integrity, risk management, controls and client service.
