Overview
JP Morgan Personal Investing is hiring a Macro Strategist to support multi-asset portfolios across our managed investing business. This role is fully integrated within the Investment Team and contributes directly to portfolio construction and the monthly investment decision cycle. The Macro Strategist develops top-down macro views and translates global growth, inflation, liquidity, policy, and market signals into actionable asset allocation insights, investment ideas, and portfolio recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and continuously refine a coherent macro framework that links growth, inflation, liquidity, and policy to cross-asset market outcomes, with clear portfolio implications.
- Work in close collaboration with our Senior Macro Strategist to define and monitor macro regimes, identify key catalysts, and maintain a repeatable cadence for updating views as data, central bank actions, and fiscal dynamics evolve.
- Produce forward-looking, decision-oriented research across equities, rates, credit, FX, and commodities, with explicit attention to cross-asset correlations, valuations, and scenario sensitivities.
- Translate research into implementable portfolio recommendations, including positioning guidance and risk considerations aligned to the managed portfolio mandate.
- Partner with senior team members to support the monthly investment process, including building base, bull, and bear cases with decision-relevant probabilities and clear communication of probabilistic outcomes to senior stakeholders.
- Prepare concise, governance-aligned Investment Committee materials that articulate the thesis, catalysts, downside cases, and recommended actions.
- Maintain disciplined process and documentation, including clear recording of assumptions, scenario definitions, and decision rationales.
Required Qualifications
- Financial markets experience, preferably in multi-asset investing, asset allocation, or investment strategy.
- Demonstrated experience in macro research, cross-asset strategy, or multi-asset portfolio management, including a proven ability to convert macro views into portfolio positioning and risk decisions.
- Strong grasp of macroeconomic concepts and their relationship to markets, with the ability to deliver high-quality investment analysis under time-bound decision cycles.
- Strong academic background and analytical capability; ability to communicate clearly in written investment materials and senior-level discussions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting institutional multi-asset portfolios and participating in investment committee processes.
- Experience in wealth management and ETF allocation.
- CFA designation.
- Coding literacy (ability to write and read code) to support research automation, data analysis, and repeatable monitoring.
