Powered by AI, you will spend more time on detailed analysis, professional judgement and the insights that genuinely add value for clients. You’ll be the one in control, reviewing and challenging the quality of AI inputs and outputs to ensure our clients continue to receive an exceptional service.
We're in the business of people, not just numbers. AI helps us work more efficiently, but it's our people who bring judgement, curiosity and care to every client relationship. As a trainee, you'll learn to use these tools while developing the human skills that will set you apart throughout your career.
Real responsibility. Real impact. Right from the start.
Advisory professionals are problem-solvers, strategists, and trusted partners. They help organisations navigate complex challenges, transform operations, and unlock growth. In this role, your insights won’t just support change – they’ll drive it, helping clients make confident decisions in an evolving business landscape.
At Grant Thornton, we’re looking for actively curious, purposefully driven, and candid but kind individuals who want to shape the future of business – not follow it.
Our three-year advisory graduate programme is your launchpad to a meaningful career, a professional qualification, and a chance to make a real impact on businesses.
Business Risk Services’ Data, AI & Analytics team provides audit, assurance and advisory services to Grant Thornton clients in the UK and internationally. We help organisations meet their data and AI obligations, strengthen governance and controls, and unlock value from advanced analytics and AI in a responsible, proportionate and business-relevant way. As part of the team, you'll gain exposure to cutting-edge data and AI technologies and help organisations build trust in how they govern and control them.
What you’ll do
- Work with a variety of clients, carry out fieldwork on data and AI assurance engagements, including data analysis, control testing, discovery exercises and maturity assessments. You will work with FTSE 100 and large, complex international organisations across a range of sectors.
- Get involved from day one, contributing to real client engagements – from planning and scoping to drafting reports and findings. You will cover areas such as data and AI governance and controls, data analytics and automation, and AI risk and maturity assessments.
- Take on responsibility quickly, taking responsibility for the quality and timeliness of your own work, with guidance from the senior members of the team.
- Collaborate with experienced colleagues, turning technical results into clear, business-relevant messages for client stakeholders.
- Learn every day on the job, with guidance from mentors and a structured training programme to build your technical expertise in data and AI assurance, using tools such as Claude, Power BI, Alteryx, Python and Microsoft Copilot, alongside your professional skills.
- Study with support, with dedicated time to revise and a team behind you as you work towards your professional qualifications – a technology-audit pathway starting with the ISACA AI Fundamentals Certificate and CISA
Who we’re looking for
We’ve got a flexible approach to academic entry requirements, and we’ll consider these alongside your strengths and motivations. We’re looking for people who want to contribute, spark fresh ideas, and go beyond expectations.
- Curious minds who explore ideas and ask thoughtful questions.
- Innovative problem solvers with a sharp eye for data and detail and be able to cut through the ‘noise’ to see the root cause.
- Collaborative partners who work respectfully and build trust with others but are not afraid to challenge and offer innovative approaches.
- Effective communicators who listen, adapt, and express ideas clearly.
- Self-leaders who manage and flex their time, mindset, and energy effectively, taking responsibility for their own action and approaching everything with a focus on the highest quality.
- Career-minded contributors who take initiative and are motivated to grow, seeking new challenges and prepared to operate outside their comfort zone.
What we expect from you
As part of your training with us, you will be provided with study leave to support you with completing your professional qualification. Completing a professional qualification is a substantial commitment and it’s worth taking this into consideration before applying, as you will be required to study in your spare time outside of your working hours. You’ll also be provided with study leave in the run up to your exams. You’ll need to be focused, committed, and organise your time well to balance all the requirements of being a trainee.
We're growing fast, and we want you to grow with us. With digital-first innovation and a firm that's investing in its future leaders, this is your chance to shape what's next.
Follow the purple path.
It’s the start of something bigger.
