Overview
- Support the General Manager/General Counsel in developing MPMS’ government affairs strategy and provide recommendations on stakeholder engagement priorities, emerging risks and advocacy opportunities.
- Translate strategic priorities into detailed stakeholder engagement and action plans.
- Monitor emerging political, regulatory and industry developments globally, leveraging relationships with internal subject matter experts and regional stakeholders to identify implications and opportunities for MPMS.
- Analyse external developments and prepare recommendations, briefing materials and options for senior leaders.
- Support development of MPMS policy positions, advocacy materials and strategic submissions.
- Support identification of opportunities for proactive engagement in priority jurisdictions and business areas.
- Coordinate MPMS engagement with government, parliamentary, departmental, regulatory and industry stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder relationship plans and engagement tracking.
- Arrange and coordinate executive meetings with government, regulatory and industry stakeholders.
- Prepare engagement strategies, briefing packs, meeting notes and follow-up actions.
- Maintain stakeholder databases, relationship maps and engagement registers.
- Coordinate responses to government consultations, parliamentary inquiries and regulatory reviews.
- Mobilise subject matter experts across the business to support consultation responses.
- Draft submissions, briefing papers, correspondence and stakeholder communications.
- Track consultation pipelines and ensure timely and coordinated responses.
- Lead enterprise monitoring of government, parliamentary, political, regulatory and industry developments across all MPMS jurisdictions.
- Develop regular reporting and intelligence products for senior leadership and governance forums.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal subject matter experts and regional stakeholders to support understanding of government, regulatory and industry developments across MPMS jurisdictions.
- Coordinate production of quarterly External Change Monitoring Forum reporting.
- Maintain enterprise registers of significant government and regulatory developments and stakeholder interactions.
- Support identification of emerging risks, opportunities and engagement priorities.
- Coordinate operation of government affairs governance processes and working groups.
- Support development of annual government affairs plans, budgets and reporting.
- Maintain policy position banks, templates, engagement procedures and supporting infrastructure.
- Establish effective information-sharing mechanisms across business units and jurisdictions.
- Support proactive identification of political, regulatory, legislative and reputational risks.
- Ensure appropriate records and governance processes are maintained for stakeholder engagement activities.
- Promote consistency of messaging and positioning across stakeholder interactions.
- Support management of sensitive issues, consultations and stakeholder engagements.
Acting Authority
- Act as delegate for the General Manager – Group Governance & Government Affairs during periods of leave or absence, maintaining continuity of stakeholder engagement, consultation responses, monitoring, reporting and Government Affairs activities.
- Experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, corporate affairs or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with government departments, regulators, industry associations and external stakeholders.
- Experience operating within financial services, superannuation, banking, insurance, professional services or other regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of regulatory policy development, consultation processes and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience engaging with regulators such as APRA, ASIC or equivalent regulatory bodies would be highly regarded.
- Strong project management and coordination capability.
- Excellent written communication, policy analysis and drafting skills.
- Experience preparing executive briefing materials, submissions and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Strong relationship management and influencing capability.

This role will be offered as a 12-month maternity cover contract.
