Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join the Marsh organization team at Marsh Risk. This role will be based in Auckland. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Reporting to the President, Marsh Risk Pacific (based in Melbourne), the President, Marsh Risk New Zealand is responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational performance of the Marsh Risk New Zealand business, ensuring delivery of growth budgets and targets set with the Marsh Risk Pacific President.

As the head of the Marsh Risk New Zealand business team, the President is expected to drive the go-to-market solution strategies for the country, including innovation and solution evolution, managing technical skills development and actively pursuing client opportunities. Working with their New Zealand and Pacific segment, practice, and functional leaders, they are accountable for:

  • enabling short- and long-term strategies by engaging teams to deliver market-relevant products and solutions,
  • ensuring financial success by aligning pricing and approach, executing growth and efficiency plans, deploying organizational resources, and driving client engagement
  • collaborating with the other Marsh businesses and counterparts in Marsh Pacific to drive growth of Marsh in New Zealand, strengthening our collective value proposition, efficiency, and colleague experience

The President is a role model, thought leader, innovator and subject matter expert, embodying the Marsh Leadership Mindset. Additionally, they are the key face of the Marsh Risk business in the external market, engaging with partners and regulators to advance the company and industries growth priorities. 

We will count on you to

  • Lead country teams to meet established targets by identifying solution needs in the market and deploying the best mix of business, staffing and investments to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Deliver on solution development and financial objectives to sustainably grow the business and contribute to company's top and bottom lines.
  • Deliver against an integrated business strategy, including a focus on our key growth areas, to ensure goals and objectives are met for the country and region.
  • Contribute to and monitors short- and long-term organizational goals and objectives to ensure alignment with broader organizational strategies.
  • Deliver the Business/practice solution strategy in-country and profitable growth via commercial excellence.
  • Actively engage in top client deal teams, pursuits and solution delivery for their geography and work with country leadership team to identify prospects for M&A transactions, as well as new and existing business opportunities to expand the business portfolio.
  • Lead sales and servicing staff, drives colleague engagement and retention, and executes the regional people strategy
  • Lead technical development and deploys talent to deliver solutions that meet client needs.
  • Act as the organization's representative to interface with key internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, as a brand ambassador of Marsh and Marsh Risk New Zealand.
  • Drive profitable growth by building competitive capability within and across segments and practices.
  • Identify and leverage Marsh Risk and Marsh People and Investments intersections, to deliver integrated solutions and support partnership opportunities with Marsh Re and Oliver Wyman where needed.

What you need to have:

  • Proven track record as a senior executive in insurance broking or a related professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated P&L leadership experience with accountability for commercial outcomes at a business-unit or country level.
  • Deep understanding of the New Zealand insurance and risk landscape, including regulatory context and market dynamics.
  • Strong commercial acumen with an ability to identify, develop, and close significant new business opportunities.
  • Exceptional leadership capability — able to build, motivate, and retain high-performing teams.
  • Outstanding executive presence and the ability to represent Marsh with clients, media, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
  • Track record of successful change leadership and business transformation.
  • Established network across New Zealand's corporate, government, and financial services sectors.
  • Familiarity with Marsh's global capabilities, products, and delivery model.
  • Experience in a Pacific or broader international commercial leadership context.
  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced qualifications or professional designations are preferred.
  • Ability to work in a high paced dynamic work environment.
