Job Description Summary:
Program Dates: June 8 – August 13, 2027 (10 weeks)SCS, Focus Partners Family Office and OCIO is seeking interested students for the Private Investments Internship. This role will provide the opportunity to learn and participate in all facets of the asset management industry, working directly with our investment team to help research, analyze, and develop global investment strategies and opportunities for our clients. SCS has an active investment program with dedicated teams across all asset classes including private equity (including buyouts, venture capital, and growth equity), private credit, real assets (real estate, natural resources), and ESG/impact investing. Interns will be expected to work closely with each asset class team, conduct and present findings of specialized research projects, and participate in external investment manager meetings.
The Focus internship program combines meaningful work experience with onboarding and training, mentorship, executive speaker sessions, firmwide networking, social and community engagement opportunities, formal performance feedback, and priority consideration for a full-time Analyst, Private Investments role based on performance and business needs.
Interns in this position will work on-site 4-5 days per week.
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct macro & market research to help the investment team better understand the current environment and form a view on how the economy may evolve going forward. This may include specialized topics, such as ESG and Impact Investing landscape, or industry specific deep dives.
Analyze external managers from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective. This will entail having calls (or meetings) with portfolio managers & analysts, developing a thorough understanding of the philosophy & process, and quantitative analysis on returns to differentiate between beta & alpha.
Develop investment collateral (in both written and presentation format) to be delivered to a variety of stakeholders (existing clients, prospective clients, and internal employees), based on analyses undertaken directly by the candidate and team members.
Qualifications
Students currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree
Expected graduation date between December 2027 and Spring 2028
Preferred GPA of 3.5+
Aptitude for learning deep intellectual concepts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on projects effectively
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Teams, SharePoint), Salesforce and Airtable a plus
Ability to work and commute out of SCS’s Boston office
Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
Ability to complete required assessments and a digital video interview as part of the application process
This position is a non-exempt position. The base pay for this role is expected to be $25/hr. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set. Please note that the job title is subject to change based on the selected candidate’s experience and education.
