KKR REAL ESTATE CREDIT AND K-STAR INVESTMENT SERVICES OVERVIEW

 

KKR Real Estate Credit was formed in January 2015 to invest in real estate credit products and launched the European Real Estate Credit business in 2022. The KKR Real Estate Credit platform complements KKR Real Estate’s private equity platforms and seeks opportunities where we have a sourcing, underwriting or execution advantage by leveraging KKR’s brand, industry knowledge and relationships. KKR Real Estate Credit currently invests through 8 separately capitalized vehicles across our Direct Lending and Securities portfolios and consists of 120+ dedicated professionals based in New York, San Francisco, Houston, Dallas and London.

 

In 2022, KKR created K-Star Asset Management LLC (“K-Star”), a dedicated investment services platform based in Dallas, Texas.  The K-Star team includes industry specialists overseeing asset management, loan origination, securities investing, risk management and client experience for KKR’s global real estate credit franchise. In 2024, K-Star established an office in Dublin, supporting KKR’s real estate credit portfolio across Western Europe.   

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

K-Star’s Finance and Accounting team oversees the firm’s accounting and reporting matters to produce analytical insights that drive business decisions and long-term success. The team is responsible for designing efficient frameworks through internal and external data and reports to understand the market environment and business dynamics, and to implement best practices. The team also collaborates closely with K-Star’s Securities, Direct Lending, and Asset-Backed Finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and budgeting of revenue as well as modeling other analytics. The Finance and Accounting team also works closely with various K-Star teams and KKR’s accounting team to report in a timely manner and to respond to ad-hoc requests. The successful candidate must be an exceptional communicator with a goal towards action, possess advanced analytical and modeling skills, thrive on creative problem-solving, and be skilled at building strong partnerships across the various KKR lines of business.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Excellence

  • Prepare an annual budget, and provide oversight of the periodic financial forecasting, on a stand-alone entity basis
  • Assist in driving continuous improvement to systems and processes cross-functionally across the organization to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives
  • Integral contributor in the overall operating model of K-Star which supports key initiatives and strategic long-range planning and growth objectives
  • Create models to assist in analyzing key performance indicators across the various K-Star business lines
  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports relating to K-Star’s performance and goals for internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Securities and Direct Lending teams to support the collection and reconciliation of servicing fee revenue utilizing various systems (such as Hazeltree treasury tool and Special Servicing RealINSIGHT solution)
  • Assist the European finance team in reporting fee revenue and preparing financial reports consistent with KKR’s established protocol and format
  • Track, monitor and analyze expense spending for detailed reporting to Senior Management
  • Improve and/or develop financial models, and infrastructure, to support the evolving needs of the business
  • Complete ad hoc projects for K-Star and the broader KKR enterprise

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as point of contact for clients, vendors, finance teams and all other stakeholders related to K-Star’s finance functions
  • Maintain working relationship with investment teams, providing relevant and timely communication
  • Work closely with K-Star business teams and KKR Accounting team
  • Interact with all levels of Senior Management

Reporting & Governance

  • Assist in completion of the quarterly financial overview
  • Prepare slide-decks and manage reporting projects

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in a Finance, Accounting or Business-related course of study, or equivalent experience. MBA or CPA Preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in similar role, in a multinational financial services organization with exposure to real estate, servicing and/or asset management is preferred
  • Superior analytical and financial modeling skills; ability to create, build and enhance models and other technology tools
  • Understanding of business processes for accounting and finance functions
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional attention to detail and thoroughness is required to ensure accuracy in all data and work product
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Knowledge S4Hana preferred
  • High intellectual curiosity and an innovative mindset
  • Strong sense of integrity and accountability
  • A focus on delivering excellence
  • Team-work orientation, collaboration, and relationship building skills with all key stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a way that reflects the firm’s culture and core values
