Senior CX/UX Designer

The opportunity

Chubb Life wants to be New Zealand's number one life insurer. Part of getting there is making it simple for customers to apply for cover, find what they need and manage their policy online.

 

Reporting to the Head of Digital and Design, you'll lead CX and UX across our websites, portals, digital forms, application journeys and servicing. You'll take work from research and journey mapping through to prototypes, testing and handover to developers.

Our design practice is still maturing. We have a design system in Figma, but the playbook, standards and ways of working are yours to help build. If you want a polished setup to step into, this probably isn't it. If you want to shape how design is done here, it is.

 

This is a senior role with a capability brief too. You'll set the design standards, build the team's playbook, look after the design system and coach the other designers. You'll also help work out where AI tools like Claude Code genuinely make design work better, and where they don't.

What you’ll own

• Leading CX and UX design on our priority digital journeys

• Running journey workshops with the business to find pain points

• Building journey maps, personas and service blueprints

• Designing wireframes and prototypes, then testing them with customers

• Building the Figma design system and the team's design playbook

• Coaching designers and finding practical uses for AI in design

What you'll bring

• 7+ years in CX, UX, digital experience or product design

• A track record leading journeys end to end across web, portal or app

• Confidence running workshops and discovery with stakeholders

• Strong research, prototyping and usability testing skills

• Hands on Figma design system experience and a good grasp of accessibility

• The ability to explain design decisions to business and tech people

Nice to have

• experience coaching designers, using AI in your design workflow, or working in insurance, financial services or another regulated industry.
