Primary Key Responsibilities

  • Support the team in the production of longevity assumptions, both in the best estimate liabilities and the capital requirements
  • Support the team in providing expert insight into emerging longevity trends
  • To carry out and support longevity analysis, including undertaking the necessary technical investigations and research and data quality reports as part of regular tasks to monitor longevity assumptions
  • Perform experience analysis and data quality reports as part of regular tasks to monitor longevity assumptions
  • Provide support and guidance to more junior members of the team in a range of project work as and when required

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Contribute to regular research on relevant longevity topics and present findings to the team.  This will include areas such as medical developments and innovations relevant to the M&G annuitant population
  • Seek and act on opportunities to develop wider and deeper technical and business understanding.
  • Planning and resource management to ensure timely delivery. Effective communication with different stakeholders required.
  • Compliance – Ensure understanding and adherence to M&G Global Services’ Code of Conduct and, where appropriate, comply with all relevant regulatory policies. This includes completion of any mandatory training requirements.
  • Responsibility for the supervision of other junior team members or delivery of specific pieces of work.
  • Performance Management – follow and contribute to the recognised Performance Management process.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of technical requirements of job together with the framework in which M&G Global services operates.
  • Ability to develop clear, workable plans for self; monitor progress of the other junior members of the team;
  • Positive attitude to analyse a complex problem in a project to ensure the delivery of a sound solution to the project stakeholder

    Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

    Knowledge & Skills (Must Have) :

  • Knowledge and understanding of longevity trends.
  • Ability to analyse data and interpret the output to understand mortality trends in portfolio data.
  • Keep up to date with research impacting longevity risk.
  • Good technical actuarial knowledge, with attention to detail.
  • Motivated and willing to take responsibility and ownership of the work assigned.
  • Demonstrable experience of problem solving and providing practical solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience of communicating complex problems with a range of stakeholders, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge & Skills (Additional) :

  • Experience in the use and enhancement of models relating to the analysis of longevity trends
  • Performing experience analysis and data manipulation in relation to monitoring mortality experience and analysing trends
  • Knowledge of the business and/ or Solvency II and/ or IFRS financial reporting experience would be an advantage, however on-the-job training will be provided to successful candidate.
  • Commercial aptitude and the ability to consider the impact of decisions
  • Ability to express own viewpoint and to communicate clearly on complex actuarial issue
  • Experience:

  • 6-9 years of relevant Actuarial experience
  • Past experience of working on experience analysis or monitoring is an added advantage
  • Educational Qualification:

  • Qualified or Nearly Qualified Faculty of Actuaries and / or Indian Institute of Actuaries.
