Core Infrastructure Platforms

The Core Infrastructure Platforms function lays the foundation for Jefferies’ IT, designing, operating, and optimizing the essential compute, storage, operating systems, and database platforms that support all business-critical applications. Our mission is to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performance datacenter and cloud solutions for global operations.

Organized into four teams, Global Systems Engineering, Unix Engineering, Windows Engineering, and Database Engineering, this group drives operational excellence, security, high availability, compliance, and continuous improvement across our technology estate.

By championing automation, standardization, and proactive monitoring, and by working closely with application, security, and business teams, we ensure our environments are robust, stable, and scalable. Job Summary

Jefferies is seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and strategic Senior Vice President (SVP), Head of Core Infrastructure Platforms (Pune). This executive technical leader will lead automation, operations, and modernization of Jefferies’ platform stack, with a focus on critical platform domains: databases, virtualization, storage, backup, compute, and Unix/Windows server infrastructure. Based in Pune, India, the SVP will lead the Pune CIP team and be accountable for technical excellence, operational resilience, and end-to-end Pune led delivery supporting the US, EMEA and APAC estate. This role reports to the Head of GCC, Pune (primary) and the Global Head of Core Infrastructure Platforms, Jersey City (secondary).

This is not a pure management or “middle-layer” role. The ideal candidate is a hands-on domain expert who remains technically current, acts as a trusted escalation point and decision-maker, and independently resolves complex infrastructure and operational challenges rather than simply escalating them.

Success in this role comes from earning the trust of engineers and global business stakeholders through demonstrated technical mastery, incident command, and the delivery of solutions that enable strategic business outcomes. The position requires deep technical expertise paired with proven people leadership to build, mentor, and scale high-performing teams supporting 24/7 capital markets operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Global Platform Leadership: partner with global leads on the vision, engineering standards, and operational governance for Jefferies’ core infrastructure stack: database, virtualization, storage, backup, compute, Unix/Linux, and Windows server platforms, across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Local Management of the Infrastructure Team: direct managerial responsibilities for Infrastructure Technology team members located in the Jefferies Pune office (Networks, Telecom, Digital Workplace, Cloud, CIP, Service Delivery).
• Modernization & Cloud/Hybrid Adoption: Drive modernization, cloud/hybrid adoption, automation-first delivery, and standardization across all domains, balancing operational excellence with innovation and optimization. Lead strategic integration and optimal workload placement between on-premises and cloud resources, as business and regulatory requirements permit.
• Hands-on Technical Escalation: Serve as the final point of escalation and technical incident lead during major outages, performance, or security incidents. Analyze real-time symptoms, ask the right diagnostic questions, and guide teams towards root-cause resolution.
• Solution Delivery: Architect and deliver practical, high-impact solutions for business and application teams, actively collaborating with CIO leadership, BU leads, and local metro SVPs/VPs worldwide.
• Operational Resilience: Own and continuously improve resilience, high-availability, recovery, and compliance strategies across the global platform estate.
• Global Team Development: Partner with global leads in NYC, London, and HK to cultivate a high-performing, distributed team of engineers and architects, primarily based in India. You will mentor leaders and engineers, promote end-to-end ownership, and develop problem-solving capability.
• Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with business units, application teams, and senior platform leaders to align technical priorities, communicate platform direction, and enable local-global business outcomes.
• Technical Standards & Documentation: Author, maintain, and enforce robust operational standards, SLAs, playbooks, and knowledge base for platform operations and incident response.
• Post-Incident Review & Learning: Lead technical post-mortems and deep-dives, drive remediation, and foster a culture of continuous technical learning.
• Regulatory & Risk Alignment: Execute robust security, compliance, vulnerability management, and audit readiness for mission-critical infrastructure in a highly regulated financial services environment.

Mandatory Qualifications & Skills

• Experience:
  • 15+ years in IT infrastructure/platform engineering and operations, with at least 5 years in global technical leadership (financial services or complex enterprise IT preferred).
  • Proven recent, hands-on experience with at least three of: database platforms (SQL/Oracle/etc), virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V/KVM, Nutanix), storage (SAN/NAS), backup/DR, Unix/Linux, and Windows server engineering and operations.
  • Track record as a solution owner, not just a conduit, able to independently architect and deliver technical outcomes in critical environments.
• Core Competencies:
  • Deep technical expertise, able to lead troubleshooting, ask the right questions, synthesize technical indicators, and command resolution during platform issues and outages.
  • Domain credibility, regarded by engineers and senior IT partners as the go-to technical escalation contact.
  • Record of driving platform modernization, cloud/hybrid/cloud adoption, automation, and cost/risk optimization.
  • Strong foundation in regulatory, compliance, and operational risk management for infrastructure.
  • Executive presence, able to command trust in both technical and business forums, and partner with C-levels, application owners, and metro engineering leaders.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management, communication, prioritization, and conflict resolution skills, on both local (India) and global scales.
  • Experience designing and enforcing technical standards, SLAs, and incident management frameworks.
• Certifications (optional, but valued):
  • Recognized certifications (RHCE, MCSE, VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, AWS/Azure/GCP, ITIL, etc.)

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent required; Master’s degree preferred.
