About the role

The CC Factory, within Nubank’s Credit Card Business Unit, is responsible for internationalizing our credit card product and creating a reusable foundation for launching it in new markets. The team recently launched credit card capabilities in the United States and is building the frameworks, platforms and AI-enabled practices required to scale into future countries.

As a Staff Software Engineer, AI & Credit Card Platform, you will operate across multiple squads and technical domains, helping shape how credit card products adapt to new markets. This is a strongly cross-functional role involving Product, Engineering, Business, Legal, Compliance and platform partners.

You will combine deep technical leadership with hands-on execution: building reusable country-launch capabilities, driving AI transformation across the engineering lifecycle, and guiding architecture across three to four squads. This is a Staff-level role with potential to grow toward broader technical scope over time

You’ll be Responsible for

  • Building the Country Launch Engine: Create reusable systems that reduce the time and effort required to launch credit card products in new markets, replacing country-specific documentation and repeated discovery with scalable capabilities.

  • Automating country readiness: Help translate regulatory requirements and market capabilities into destination architecture and configurable product behavior.

  • Driving AI transformation across CC Factory: Diagnose engineering friction, establish productivity baselines, run experiments, measure impact and scale the AI practices that work.

  • Building domain-grounded AI systems: Develop context engineering foundations, domain skills and repository context so AI agents can support credit card configuration and international launches with reliable outputs.

  • Defining AI risk and governance: Establish appropriate human-in-the-loop controls, evaluation, monitoring and auditability for AI used in regulated financial workflows.

  • Leading technical architecture across multiple squads: Serve as a technical anchor across areas such as Collateral Lines, Cashback and adjacent credit card platforms, guiding architecture and unblocking complex work.

  • Partnering across the organization: Align Product, Engineering, Business, Legal, Compliance and platform teams around technical direction, dependencies and launch priorities.

  • Staying hands-on: Prototype, code and contribute directly when needed, while adapting quickly as business priorities and market opportunities evolve.

What We're Looking For Someone Who Has

Required

  • Software engineering experience, with demonstrated Staff-level scope across multiple teams and domains.

  • A track record of designing and shipping reusable platform or systemic solutions adopted by other teams.

  • Current, hands-on experience with agentic AI, including coding agents, tools, skills, context engineering or RAG in production or near-production environments.

  • Strong backend and distributed-systems depth, sufficient to hold architectural authority across multiple products and platforms.

  • Ability to operate under deep ambiguity, structure undefined problems and make progress even when future market requirements are not yet confirmed.

  • Quantitative rigor: ability to define baselines, design experiments, measure outcomes and stop initiatives that do not create value.

  • Strong technical leadership and influence without authority across Engineering, Product, Business, Legal and Compliance stakeholders.

  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English, including technical documents, plans and playbooks read by teams across countries.

  • Willingness to work hands-on and adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with multi-country or internationalized product platforms, particularly regulatory-driven variation, multi-currency or installments.

  • Experience in banking, credit cards, financial services or another regulated domain.

  • Experience with configuration-driven product architecture.

  • Experience with Clojure, functional programming or large-scale microservice architectures.

  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and running technical enablement across an organization.
