About the Role
This is a key role within the team, focused on driving profitable growth, strengthening broker and client relationships, and supporting the achievement of department, branch and corporate goals. You’ll play an important part in delivering strong service, protecting underwriting quality and contributing to the overall success of the business
In this role, you will:
Book management
- Developing portfolio, profit and retention strategies
- Working with HUB and internal stakeholders to maintain a consistent broker approach and provide feedback and solutions where needed
- Monitoring open claims for assigned accounts and making recommendations where appropriate
- Preparing thoroughly for account reviews with management, demonstrating strong knowledge of risk, industry trends, the competitive environment and Chubb’s products and capabilities
Underwriting quality and compliance
- Maintain strong underwriting standards and ensure compliance with relevant workflows and documentation requirements.
- Adhering to underwriting, compliance and file documentation standards to support Branch and SBU revenue and profit goals
- Evaluating and accepting or declining new lines, renewals and endorsements within delegated authority
- Making recommendations on risks outside authority and account trade-off decisions
- Providing input to management on profit analysis, premium planning and market/environment analysis where appropriate
Sales and marketing
- Support individual producer targets and contribute to business development across SBU/product lines and broker segments.
- Achieving individual producer targets in line with the business plan
- Developing and implementing business development strategies to prospect for new business
- Collaborating with key internal stakeholders to maximise sales and marketing outcomes
- Managing the sales pipeline to identify and develop new business opportunities
Broker and key account management
- Build and maintain strong broker and key account relationships across the assigned territory to retain and grow business.
- Manage relationships through proactive communication, regular visitation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Visiting producers to discuss risks, communicate Chubb’s appetite and generate new business
- Monitoring producer performance and addressing any gaps against underwriting and marketing goals
- Planning and delivering a regular underwriting travel programme to support business development and market presence
- Managing resources and expenses in a responsible and strategic way
What you’ll bring to the role
- Demonstrable ability to proactively identify and implement intelligent solutions to unique underwriting situations.
- Appropriate levels of subject matter expertise in relation to: pricing techniques, alternative risk transfer and the development of reserves by individual case and by book of business.
- Working knowledge of the key accounts in the Branch.
- Understanding the underwriting appetites of the other departments and associated relationships with interdepartmental accounts.
- Judgement, experience, and confidence to make appropriate recommendations for tailoring coverage and manuscripting
- policies.
- Familiarity with the products / services of key competitors.
- Demonstrable capacity and efficacy in utilising negotiation strategies to achieve constructive business outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to work well with people and influence decisions.
