About this role
Your Team
Data is at the heart of Aladdin and increasingly the ability to acquire, govern, analyze, and derive insights from data is a key differentiator for BlackRock and our clients. The Aladdin Data (AD) team is responsible for the firm's data ecosystem, ensuring data can be discovered, trusted, accessed, and used effectively across investment, operations, analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and client solutions.
Our mission is to build and operate the capabilities, governance, and workflows that enable data producers and consumers across BlackRock to efficiently share and leverage high-quality data at scale. AD supports strategic outcomes by delivering trusted data products and services, enabling scalable data sharing through the Data Marketplace, providing well-governed data for analytics and AI, and offering common standards, governance, and reusable services that accelerate business value creation.
We are building the BlackRock Data Office, a new organization within Aladdin Data focused on enabling trusted, reusable, and AI-ready data across Technology & Operations. The team serves as a central organization responsible for accelerating how data is onboarded, governed, managed, and consumed while establishing scalable stewardship, governance, and data product practices that position data as a strategic enterprise asset.
Your Role and Impact
As Director, Data Stewardship, you will play a critical leadership role in establishing and scaling data stewardship across Technology & Operations. You will partner with business, product, and engineering leaders to drive data ownership, governance, quality, and accountability across strategic data domains.
This role provides an opportunity to influence enterprise-wide data practices, improve trust and transparency in data assets, and help deliver reusable, AI-ready data products that support operational excellence, analytics, and innovation across the firm.
Your Responsibilities
In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:
Serve as the accountable steward for strategic Technology & Operations data domains, driving ownership, governance, quality, discoverability, and reuse.
Partner with business, product, engineering, and senior domain leaders to strengthen data accountability and drive enterprise adoption of governance practices.
Lead adoption of data governance, metadata, lineage, data product standards, and lifecycle management practices across the Data Marketplace.
Establish and oversee data quality controls, metrics, risk management, and remediation activities to ensure trusted and reliable data.
Build scalable stewardship operating models, governance forums, and communities of practice that enable effective data management across the organization.
Advance the Data Office strategy by supporting AI-ready data products, representing Technology & Operations in enterprise initiatives, and helping define the long-term operating model.
Your Experience
Education in a relevant field and demonstrated ability to lead data stewardship, governance, management, or strategy initiatives within complex organizations.
Proven success leading enterprise-scale data governance and stewardship programs across large, matrixed organizations.
Experience implementing metadata management, lineage, data catalog, and data product practices within modern enterprise data ecosystems.
Strong technical foundation across enterprise data platforms, data architectures, and advanced SQL-based data analysis and quality management.
Ability to drive governance, data quality, discoverability, and AI-readiness through strong stakeholder engagement and executive influence.
Experience in financial services, asset management, banking, or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
Our benefits
To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of employee benefits including: retirement investment and tools designed to help you in building a sound financial future; access to education reimbursement; comprehensive resources to support your physical health and emotional well-being; family support programs; and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.
