Job summary

As a Payment Lifecycle Analyst in Reconciliation Services, you support the smooth transfer of funds between parties by processing payments, resolving exceptions, and escalating potential risks. You help protect clients and the firm through careful review, investigation, and adherence to established procedures and controls.

Job responsibilities

  • Execute high-volume payment processing tasks by validating currency and settlement details to support accurate, timely transactions.
  • Process payments across cash, trade, merchant, commercial card, and account-related activities in line with documented procedures and client instructions.
  • Review transactions for potential sanctions, fraud, and funds-control concerns and follow established escalation paths when needed.
  • Investigate exceptions, inquiries, and payment investigations by completing basic research and documenting actions taken.
  • Identify processing issues, operational errors, and risk indicators, and resolve or escalate them to help reduce financial and reputational impact.
  • Reconcile items and breaks within defined procedures and service expectations, including support for invoicing or cash management activities as applicable.
  • Use approved automation tools to improve accuracy and efficiency, and propose practical process improvements based on observed trends.
  • Coach or support less experienced teammates on routine, non-complex tasks as assigned.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Experience supporting payment processing operations or similar operational work, including following standard operating procedures and customer-specific instructions.
  • Ability to process high volumes of work with strong attention to detail and consistent adherence to procedures and controls.
  • Ability to analyze issues, make sound decisions, and apply structured problem-solving to moderately complex situations.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with teammates, leaders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and locations to resolve issues, influence outcomes, and support continuous improvement.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills, including accurate alphanumeric data entry and working across common business applications.
  • Basic understanding of operational risk, information security practices, and fraud awareness within a controlled processing environment.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Knowledge of ISO 20022 and/or SWIFT message processing.
  • Experience using automation tools to streamline operational processes and improve quality.
  • Experience supporting investigations related to suspected fraud, sanctions screening outcomes, or payment exceptions.
  • Developing experience using AI-powered analytics, workflow automation, or intelligent process tools to drive efficiency gains, reduce manual effort, or improve accuracy in operational processes.
