We're seeking someone to join our team as an HR Business Partner in the HR Service Delivery team, which provides tactical support to the core HR Business Partner team. Working very closely with senior HR Business Partners, this role offers a blend of HR operations and tactical advisory support to the Core HRBPs across the globe.
In the Human Capital Management division, we provide advice and insight to attract, retain, reward and develop a talented global workforce, giving employees the support and tools, they need to succeed. This is a Director level position within the HR Service Delivery team, providing a blend of operational and tactical support to the core HR Business Partner team as an extension of their team, and delivering end-to-end core HR support to business leaders, managers and employees in the assigned client groups. As we are building this team in India, the role is evolving and its scope will develop over time. This will be a gradual journey towards an optimized operating model, and the incumbent will play an active part in shaping how the team works and the support it provides. This role is for an experienced, hands-on HR generalist who thrives close to the people agenda: advising leaders and employees, resolving employee relations matters, and turning business needs into practical people solutions. The ideal candidate leads with empathy, asks the right questions, and responds quickly as the business, the organization and the industry evolve.
Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.
What you'll do in the role:
- Work hand in hand with the core HR Business Partner team as part of HR Service Delivery, providing tactical and operational support across the core HR function and employee lifecycle, sharing insights from the ground, and executing people priorities for the client group.
- Manage day-to-day HR operations for the client group located across different regions, including employee lifecycle activities such as onboarding, transfers, promotions, manager changes, compensation actions, mobility and separations, ensuring accuracy, timely completion and strong governance.
- Track requests through to completion, maintain accurate data in HR systems, and provide reporting, metrics and insights to the core HR Business Partner team and stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted, hands-on advisor to business leaders, managers and employees on the full range of people matters, building strong relationships grounded in credibility, discretion and trust.
- Support employee relations: handle grievances, conduct and performance concerns, investigations and disciplinary matters fairly and consistently, partnering with Employee Relations, Legal and Compliance and ensuring outcomes are well-documented and aligned with policy and local labour law.
- Act as a solution provider: listen carefully, ask probing questions to understand the root cause, and recommend practical, balanced solutions that meet both business needs and employee wellbeing.
- Respond quickly and with agility to changing business priorities, organisational changes and industry developments, adapting people plans and advice accordingly.
- Partner with the business on organisational change, including restructures, team transitions, role changes and workforce planning, ensuring thoughtful change management and clear communication with impacted employees.
- Drive the annual and cyclical talent processes for the client group, including year-end performance evaluations, talent reviews, promotions, compensation and succession planning.
- Use people data and employee feedback to identify trends (e.g., attrition, engagement, ER patterns), anticipate risks and proactively recommend actions.
- Partner with global and regional HR colleagues to localise and land firm-wide people initiatives effectively.
- Actively represent HR Service Delivery in key forums, bringing forward the team’s perspective and ensuring operational insights inform broader discussions, priorities, and decisions
- Contribute to building and maturing the HR Service Delivery team in India, helping define processes, ways of working and the evolving scope of support as the team moves towards an optimised operating model.
What you'll bring to the role:
- 12 to 14 years' progressive HR experience, with significant time in a hands-on HR Business Partner or HR generalist role supporting senior business leaders.
- Experience working in an HR Service Delivery or HR operating model that supports senior HR Business Partners, with the ability to work closely and collaboratively alongside them.
- A balanced blend of HR operations and HR advisory experience, with strong process discipline, attention to detail and ownership of execution.
- Deep, practical experience in employee relations, including managing investigations, disciplinary and grievance cases, and sound working knowledge of Indian labour laws and employment practices.
- Proven ability to advise both business leaders and employees, balancing commercial priorities with fairness and employee experience.
- A solution-oriented mindset with strong judgement, able to diagnose issues and recommend pragmatic, well-reasoned options.
- Agility and pace: comfortable responding quickly to shifting business needs, ambiguity and change in the organisation and industry.
- Comfort working in a newly established, evolving team, with the flexibility and builder mindset to help shape processes and ways of working as the role and operating model mature.
- Strong influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
- Experience in change management and organisational design is highly desirable.
- Prior experience supporting Financial Services or a global, matrixed organisation is preferred.
- Working knowledge of HR systems (e.g., Workday) and comfort using data and analytics to inform decisions; strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Utmost discretion and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.Hiring manager to add Hiring manager to add
